Lighten up!

“Get the camera out of my face,Mum — I’m too hot and grumpy to cope!”
The expression on the face of Baby Ginger aka ‘Bouf Boy’ said it all. It was suddenly quite hot and, oddly for Victoria, quite sticky-humid.
Baby was still heavily furry — his winter coat hanging on a bit longer than usual since we were still having night time temps down to 8C (48F) up until a few days ago — so I spent a half an hour last night briskly brushing and brushing. The amount of fur that came off in wads was enough to spin into yarn and knit a kitten-sized sweater.
Time to lighten up in several other ways, too — need to get inside some of the those boxes that have been stored in the studio ever since we moved to the country from Melbourne 3 years ago. If I haven’t seen those things in all of these years — do I really need them?
Paperwork, artwork and clothing notwithstanding — looks like it’s time to lighten up via a big purge in the coming weeks.
And I’ll need to do it when Sweetie is off at work. I used to think I had an issue with keeping things that were long past their use-by date due to sentimental attachment, but my ‘issues with stuff’ are minor league compared to him!
So, is it ebay singing to me? A well-advertised garage sale perhaps? Donations galore to the charity shops?
Keep you posted — and I may get brave and document the process in photos!

That boy looks like a princess…gorgeous…
I had stuff stored for 10 years, didn’t even know I had them – the only thing I really wanted was eaten by mice. Maybe that was a sign that worldly possessions don’t really matter…lol…so I got rid of everything.
I am so with you on that lighten up thing. Moving helps

Oooo — don’t know if Daddy’s little darling would like being called a “princess.”He does think that the house revolves around him though.
I’m almost afraid to open some of those boxes. I packed everything thinking I would see it all again in a month or so. Nope! The house construction process dragged on SO long and then we moved into a smaller and more eco-conscious house instead of the bigger house in Melbourne that we rattled around in.
Can’t believe I am saying THIS one, but I’m even ready to thin out the books. (gasp!)
Good to hear from you!

So there are several of us here in town wondering if you are going to put a notice up on the notice board about things you want to get rid of.
And are you moving away from Australia? Don’t you like it here any longer?

Yes Betty,
I will create a listing notice with small photos of what we wish to get rid of and post it in the glass case outside the newsagent.
I’m not sure why people think we are leaving since I NEVER said that in any of my articles on either site! And yes, I still love Australia — period.
Guess it’s time to write a further clarification.
